A violent crash, a $106 million judgment and the embrace that brought closure

On November 5, 2021, a six-member jury in the Maryland Circuit Court for Prince George’s County awarded GLG client Ezra Ganeshananda a total of $106.8 million for damages resulting from a horrific car crash. Firm Principal Peter Grenier and associate John Antishin represented Mr. Ganeshananda. On April 14, 2016, Mr. Ganeshananda, a Maryland State Trooper, was stopped on the shoulder of I-95 assisting a broken-down vehicle, when the defendant’s vehicle came barreling down the shoulder at roughly 80 miles per hour and slammed into the back of Mr. Ganeshanada’s vehicle. Miraculously, Mr. Ganeshananda survived the crash, but he suffered, and continues to suffer, life-altering injuries. This verdict marks the conclusion of a five-and-a-half-year struggle for justice delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In a very touching and powerful moment, the defendant apologized to Mr. Ganeshananda, and they shook hands and hugged.
